ABOUT

/ 'Street Where You
Live' Productions' groundbreaking,
Emmy Nominated, Telly
Award-Winning teen-family awareness series, MAPLE
AVE currently airs on select PBS
affiliates nationwide, regularly offering its audiences 'television
that matters'. Created by award-winning writer/filmmaker, Richard
T. Wilson (pictured above left) the MAPLE AVE films
series reaches millions of viewers each year, both on television
and in the classroom.
In an era when everything from TV commercials
to roadside billboards are asking parents 'to be parents', the
need for a program like MAPLE AVE, that reaches out to at-risk
teens and their families, is sadly all too obvious. Capturing
viewers' imaginations with its unique focus on the inner life
of teens and their families, MAPLE AVE addresses this growing
problem head on by providing audiences with instantly recognizable
characters and situations that are clearly as entertaining as
they are thoughtful and educational. Regularly informed by the
teens it's designed to reach, MAPLE AVE credibly shares its audience's
concerns while simultaneously providing an entertaining and non-threatening
forum for parents and their children to discuss issues of critical
importance to them in their everyday lives.
The series began airing in late 2003 and has
since received numerous
awards and honors,
among them two Mid-Atlantic Emmy Nominations
in the 'Outstanding Youth Programming'
category. During this time, PBS Programmers have heaped acclaim
upon the series' two pilot episodes,
'Jenny's
Reasons' and
'Ghosts
in the Hall',
calling them, 'two of the finest shows for young people I've ever
seen' and 'an important drama series that touches on what is happening
with the youth of today'.
